PRESQUE ISLE – Dr. Guillermo T. Minnhaar, 67, died Saturday morning, May 7, 2005, at his residence in Presque Isle. He was born Feb. 22, 1938, at Rosario, Argentina, the son of Teodoro and Sila (Cassini) Minnhaar. Before coming to Maine in 2003, he was very proud to be an instructor of medicine at University of Texas and Chief of the gastrointestinal clinic at MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Clinic in Houston, Texas. He worked on staff with Dr. Ronald Rohe at the oncology department at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. He is survived by his wife, Janet Byrnes-Minnhaar of Presque Isle; two step-children, Walter Scarborough of Beacon, N.Y. and Richard Byrnes of Presque Isle; a sister, Gretchen Minnhaar of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a cousin, Juan Barberis, of Rosario, Argentina. At his request there will be no services. Donations may be made to Hospice of Aroostook P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736 or to the Oncology Department at TAMC P.O. Box 151, Presque Isle.
