WELD – Duncan Plummer Hutchinson, 84, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 8, 2007, with family at his side, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Augusta. He was born June 8, 1923, in Weld, a son of Linwood E. and Christie Edna (Plummer) Hutchinson. He received his education in Weld schools and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1942. In 1951, he married Claire Etta Meservey. She died Feb. 18, 1996. He later married Shirley Bridges of Winthrop. Mr. Hutchinson was a veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired in 1983 as a master sergeant. He was a 54-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 99, Mount Vernon and attended the Weld Lodge. He was a private pilot and worked at Jack’s Flying Service and Currier’s Flying Service out of Greenville, piloting scenic flights, as well as working on fire patrol. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the Phillips Aero Club and was a former commander of the Bangor Squadron. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fly-fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and had been a guide for King and Bartlett. He traveled around the world with his family, whom he dearly loved. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Winthrop; two sons, Duncan Paul Hutchinson and his wife, Sandy, of Carmel and Linwood A. “Woody” Hutch-inson and his wife, Karen, of Hermon; two daughters, Deborah Wark and her husband, Larry, of Plymouth and Diane Hutchinson-Fontane and her husband, Wayne, of Grafton, Mass.; two sisters, Barbara York and her husband, Harry, of Belgrade and Marilyn Plum of Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Arlene Hutchinson of Belgrade; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Armand Hutchinson. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening and 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of service 1 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, Cremation Service and Funeral Home, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Routes 2 and 27, Farmington. Public Masonic services and full military honors will be provided Thursday at the conclusion of the service. After the services, all are welcome to attend a family reception at the Remembrance Center, hosted by the family. Those who desire may give gifts in his memory to the Maine Veterans’ Home, Attention Resident Activity Fund, 310 Cony Road, Augusta, ME 04330. Winter entombment will be at the funeral home. Spring burial will be at Center Hill Cemetery, Weld.
