MILLINOCKET – Durward F. “Brownie” Brown, 68, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at home with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 11, 1937, in East Millinocket, the son of Vernon and Dorothy (Nadeau) Brown. He was a graduate and salutatorian of Schenck High School, Class of 1956. He was a member of the Air and Army National Guard from 1960 to 1965 and was also a member of both the Millinocket and East Millinocket fire departments. Brownie worked for the B & A Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the B.P.O.E since 1971. Brownie enjoyed his sunny back porch, which he often referred to as his “winterbago.” He also liked to read and travel, especially traveling on chartered bus trips. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pamela (Wibberley) Brown of Millinocket; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul F. and Melanie Brown of Millinocket; a daughter, Mary Tondreau of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandchildren, Tia Tondreau of Dover-Foxcroft and Gabrielle and Christopher Brown, both of Millinocket; a special cousin, Brian Estes of Williamsburg, Va.; and several other relatives. He was predeceased by an infant son, Frederick Carlton Brown in 1962; and a son-in-law, Terry Tondreau in 1998. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Deacon Robert Landry officiating. Officers and members of the Elks Lodge will conduct an Elks memorial service 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in East Millinocket Cemetery after the services.
