PRESQUE ISLE – Duska Dillen Glidden died peacefully at her home at 239 State St., Dec. 1, 2003. She was born Aug. 17,1914, in Mars Hill, the second daughter of Herrick Lufkin Dillen and Rachel Kearney Dillen. She graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, attended Farmington Normal School and graduated from Aroostook State Normal School. She taught elementary school in Robinson. In 1937, she married Harold D. Glidden of Presque Isle, where they made their home for the past 66 years. She was a wonderful partner, wife, mother and friend. Duska was active in the A.R. Gould Hospital Auxiliary, Onaway Club, the Republican party, the “Sewing Circle” and was owner and operator of D&D Advertising Agency for 10 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; her sisters, Anne Dillen Stimpson and Christabel Dillen Lavin; and her brother, Robert Flint Dillen. She is survived by her daughter, Melodie Glidden Mannix of Bangor; her son, William Flint Glidden of Atlanta, Ga.; and her daughter, Tamia Glidden of Presque Isle; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Glidden Mannix of Orono, and Duska Rachel Glidden of Atlanta; and her sister, Helen Dillen Stitham of Dover-Foxcroft; her sister-in-law, Josephine Dillen of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank two very special friends, Ethel Devine and Frank Grant. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Presque Isle Congregational Church.
