HARTLAND, PALMYRA and BENTON – Earl H. Dyer Jr., 77, died Dec. 3, 2003, at Sanfield Rehabilitation and Living Center in Hartland. He was born Sept. 1, 1926, at Palmyra, a son of Earl Sr. and Vera (Appleby) Dyer. He attended Hartland and Palmyra schools and was a machinist Foreman at Keyes Fibre Machine Shop, and Mid-State Machine. He then operated his own shop, Standard Machine in Benton, until his retirement. He was a 44 year member of Keystone Lodge, AF & AM, in Bingham. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends; especially his many trips to Moosehead Lake. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Bemis) Dyer of Benton; and a daughter, Darlene Scott of Connecticut; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including a special grandniece, Patricia Johnston of Pittsfield, who cared for him. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Anne in 1960; and brothers, Vincent, Gilbert, and Merle. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at Morses Corner Cemetery in Corinna.
