OTTER CREEK – Earl Leo Butler, 72, died Dec. 31, 2005, at a Mount Desert Island healthcare facility. He was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Bar Harbor, the son of Leo E. and Clara F. (Liscomb) Butler. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a faithful employee for 35 years at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. He enjoyed his co-workers and the time he spent with friends during his retirement. Earl was a great storyteller and had the “gift to gab.” He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a past master of the Green Mt. Panoma Grange and member of the American Legion Post No. 207. He enjoyed the Saturday night dances. He is survived by a sister, “Ada” Louise Butler of Otter Creek; two nephews, two nieces and seven great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy and Pauline; and by a brother, Everett. Graveside services will be announced in the spring by Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor.
