VAN BUREN and CARIBOU – Edgar Louis Grivois, 89, died Dec. 16, 2003, at a Caribou health care facility. He was born in Lille, May 26, 1914, the son of Maxime and Helen (Madore) Grivois. He was educated in local schools and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the infantry in Germany. Edgar was a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren and the VFW, Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 of Caribou. He was married to Dora (Corbin) Giberson in 1965 and together they enjoyed 22 years until her death in 1992. He was employed as a machinist with the Stanley Tool Company in Connecticut for more than 25 years. Edgar was an avid camper and sportsman and enjoyed his many visits to Maine while living in Connecticut, and returned to the St. John Valley in the mid 1970’s. He is survived by two sisters, Trudy Pray of Auburn and Rita Harrington of Foothill Ranch, Calif.; two stepsons, John Giberson and his wife, Carolyn, and Howard Giberson, all of Fort Fairfield; three stepdaughters, Mary Giberson, Louise White and her husband, Frank, all of Fort Fairfield and Norma Tardy and her husband Butch of Limestone; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren, seven nieces and four nephews, including a special nephew, Frank Thibodeau of Presque Isle. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Alcide and Alphonse Grivois; two sisters, Estelle Plourde and Laurette Boucher; one stepson, D. Albert Giberson. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, from 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
