JONESPORT – Edith “Edie” A. Carver, 92, passed away April 28, 2007, at Sunrise Care Facility, Jonesport, after a brief illness. She was born March 12, 1915, in West Jonesport, the daughter of the late Alexander Norton and Edna (Marney) Norton. Edith retired from Rest Haven Nursing Home, Jonesport, after working many years at the Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor. She was well known for making coat hangers and dish cloths that she gave away as fast as she made them. Edith lived at the Gaelic Square Apartments for 28 years and was known as mother to all the tenants. She was proud of her boys graduating high school and going into the military. Edith loved the time she spent in Bar Harbor. She is survived by four sons, George Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Addison, Dale and friend, Helen, of Revere, Mass., Fred and wife, Linda, of Addison, and Larry and wife, Rebecca, of San Diego; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grand-children; one sister, Genieve Calor of Sunrise Care Facility; sister-in-law, Lorena Norton of King George, Va.; many nieces, nephews and special friends. Edith was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, George Arthur Carver Sr.; a brother, Hiram Norton; and stepmother, Lyda (Goodell) Rodick Norton. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport, officiated by the Rev. Richard Thomas.
