STEUBEN – Arthur “A.J.” G. Smith Jr., 26, died unexpectedly April 28, 2007. He was born March 28, 1981, in Machias, the son of Arthur G. Smith Sr. and Marie A. Smith. A.J. was an outdoorsmen, especially enjoying fishing, hunting and photography. He loved spending time with his children and family. He is survived by his parents of Steuben; two children, Madison Marie Smith and Brayden Godfrey Smith of Unity; mother of his children, Mary Howard; grandmother to his children, Dianne Hatch; brothers, Leroy R. Turner and wife, Rachel and their children, Alyssa and Zoey, Gleason A. Smith, and Andrew C. Smith, all of Steuben; grandmother, Selma Smith; grandfather, Maynard Torrey Jr.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend, Lee Smith III; and many other friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Colon Smith Sr.; and a grandmother, Sophia Torrey. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Rock Maple Cemetery, Harrington.
