BELFAST – Edith Wanita (Keene) Langer, 62, went to be with the lord on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2005, at her home. She was born May 5, 1943, in Ashland, a daughter of Robert and Doris (Hunnewell) Keene. She had been sick for several years with diabetes. Edie attended schools in Houlton and Sherman and for the last few years she worked at the Little River Apparel in Belfast. She enjoyed crafting since she was a young girl and was always looking for something she could make. The thing she loved the most though, was reminiscing and looking at photo albums at family reunions. She was a member of the Alexander-Crawford Historical Society; their monthly newsletters helped her fulfill her genealogy hobby. Edith attended the Searsport Full Gospel Church. She is survived by two sons, Christopher Louis Langer of Belfast and Benjamin Joseph Langer of Searsmont. She is survived by three sisters, Elaine Joseph and her husband, Thomas, of Belfast, Irene Keene of Belfast and Evelyn Reece of Houlton; three brothers and their wives, Ernest and Christine Keene of Litchfield, Linden and Marilyn Keene of Crystal, John and Josie Keene of Palermo. She was also loved by several nieces and nephew and will be missed. Also missing her is a special nephew, James Armstrong who was often a great help to her. She was predeceased by both her parents and a brother, Royace Keene; and her favorite uncle, George Henry Keene. At her request there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Full Gospel Church in Searsport, with Pastor Cliff Gall officiating. A small gathering for family and friends will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made to assist with final expenses to Elaine Joseph, 94 Marsh Rd., Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements are under the care of The Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
