MAPLETON – Janice Ann Cyr, 50, died Nov. 23, 2005, at Presque Isle. She was born Oct. 7, 1955, in Caribou, the daughter of J. Hubert and Rita (Finnemore) Haley. Janice graduated from Caribou High School in 1973. She received her associate degree in radiation technology from Eastern Maine Technical College in 1975. She was a registered radiological technologist, licensed with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. She furthered her education at Maine Medical Center and successfully completed her state board exam in radiation therapy. Janice then went on to manage the Radiation Therapy Unit at the Aroostook Medical Center for 28 years. Janice dedicated her life to her family and the care of her patients. Her joys in life were the love of her family, her dogs, “Joey” and “Spike”, the gifts of nature and a good book. Janice married Bryan Cyr, July 4, 1977. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bryan of Mapleton; her mother, Reta Haley of Caribou; two brothers, John R. and James C. Haley of Caribou; her niece, Jennifer Haley and her fiance, Timothy Bryce of Bangor; special family members, Kimberly and Brendon Esquibel of Caribou; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Shirley Cyr of Presque Isle; sister-in-law, Patricia Hutchings and her husband, Fred and their son Vaughn, of Presque Isle; brother-in-law, Steve Cyr and his wife, JC, of Castine; one aunt, Marge Sementilli of Hickory, N.C.; her cousins, Jeanne, Jane, Mary, David, Sylvia, Claudia, Judy and Janet; sister-in-law, Nancy Haley and her childhood and lifelong friend, Dora Leavitt of Caribou. Burial will be at Greenridge Cemetery in Caribou. In keeping with Janice’s wishes, family and friends will be invited to attend a graveside memorial service in the spring of 2006. Those who wish may donate in Janice’s memory to the Radiation Therapy Department at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
