BELFAST – Edmond L. Thompson, 83, died July 29, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1924, the son of Elmer and Mary (Bowen) Thompson. He graduated from Crosby High School in 1942. After his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he moved to New Jersey, where he worked for 23 years for Johnson & Johnson. He was a member of Island Heights Yacht Club, Tom’s River, N.J. He held a private pilot’s license. He enjoyed flying and golf. Ed and Mary loved to travel together with their Airstream. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary G. Thompson of Belfast; a son, Keith Wayne Thompson of Florida; a daughter, Diane Torkacho of Pennsylvania; a sister, Faustina Merry of Belfast; one grand-daughter and one grandson. Services with be held at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast, and announced at a later date.
