HARTFORD, Conn. Edna (Daigle) MacNeil Peterson, 95, wife of the late Joseph G. MacNeil and Harry C. Peterson, died peacefully Thursday, April 26, 2007, at St. Mary Home, West Hartford, Conn. She was born in Fort Kent, daughter of the late Jean Baptiste A. and Eleonise (Cyr) Daigle. Mrs. Peterson was a communicant of St. Helena Church, West Hartford, Conn. Edna graduated in 1930 from the Madawaska Training School for Teachers, now the University of Maine – Fort Kent. She taught in the elementary school system of Maine for 20 years, prior to moving to Connecticut. She was employed for 25 years as an executive payroll clerk at the Royal Typewriter Co., Hartford, Conn., retiring in 1975. Upon retirement, Mrs. Peterson enjoyed traveling, both domestically and abroad with her husband, Harry. She was a member of many organizations, including the West Hartford Dames. Edna was really a lifelong teacher, and loved teaching arts and crafts wherever she was, and will be remembered for her many beautiful creations. She possessed a great joie de vive, as was evident in her talent with the violin and piano. She derived great pleasure in seeing others happy. Edna was predeceased by her parents and 10 siblings. She is survived by her nephews, Armand and Roger Daigle; nieces, Annette Powers, Kathleen LaFrance, Rilda Seletz, Verona and Violet Daigle; a stepnephew, Harry Hazlehurst; a stepniece, Alice H. Barreca; and two goddaughters, CarolAnn Breault and Candide D. Sedlik. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, Conn. A funeral procession to St. Helena Church, 30 Echo Lane, West Hartford, Conn., will be immediately after, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. A committal service will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, Conn.
