BANGOR – Edward A. “Eddie” Elliott Sr., passed away at home surrounded by family, Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, after a brief illness. He was born May 5, 1925 in Benton N.B., Canada, the son of William A. and Elizabeth B. (Loane) Elliott. The family settled in Bangor where he graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1945. He was an honorary life member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Bangor Council 0339 and also an honorary life member of Pine Cone Council 3rd degree No. 114 of Bangor. He was also a life member of the United Transportation Union Lodge 1400 of Portland as a locomotive engineer. He was also a member of the AARP, the NRA and S.A.M. and a member of the American Legion Post 846OHMN of Orono. He retired from the Maine Central Railroad after 42 years of service as a locomotive engineer. He was also a Navy Air Corp veteran of World War II. Eddie was predeceased by his father and mother; a sister, Mary; two brothers, Robert and John. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann (McIntosh) Elliott of Bangor; six sons, Randy and his wife, Kathy, of East Corinth, Edward Allen Jr. of Bangor, William and Cynthia Tremblay of Zephyrhills Fla., Richard of Orrington, Michael of Bangor, Thomas and his wife, Tracy, of Bangor; one daughter, Cindy Elliott of Bangor. Edward “Papa” was a loving grandfather to Nicholas, Caitlin, Christopher, Kayla, Abigail, Dana and Anna. He is also survived by a special niece, Shirley Mitchell of Hampden, and several other nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a Knights of Columbus Vigil service will be held 7 p.m. by the officers and members of the Pine Cone Council No. 144. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Jan 13, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service. Burial will be held at the family lot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
