BEVERLY HILLS, Fla. – Edward A. Henderson, 86, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1920, in East Hodgdon, the son of Robert and Blanche (Pray) Henderson. He attended Ricker Classical Institute, Houlton. He held a civil engineering degree from the University of Maine in Orono and a master’s degree from Purdue University. Mr. Henderson was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific as a radar officer on a destroyer. He was a retired lieutenant commander of the Naval Reserve. His career as a civil engineer included positions with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and New Jersey Highway Department. He was a partner and vice president of the firm of Goodkind and O’Dea, Consulting Engineers. His career took him to farflung places like Jamaica, Costa Rica and Bolivia. After his retirement, he most enjoyed fishing and card playing. His long retirement was spent at his beloved farm in Garfield Plantation and his winter home in Florida. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Robert. Survivors include his wife, Claire, to whom he was married for 65 years; daughter, Anne and her husband, Robert Franklin, of Higganum, Conn., and Garfield Plantation; daughter, Mary Claire and Joe Falco of Beverly Hills, Fla.; grandchildren, Demian Falco of Middletown, Conn., Charles Franklin of Auburn and Amy Hubler of Tewksbury, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, three nephews, a niece and many dear friends. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Municipal Cemetery, Ashland. Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
