ROBBINSTON – Edward L. Morrell, 89, died Jan. 26, 2005, at home. He was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Robbin-ston, the son of Raymond and Florence (Gilmore) Morrell. Edward was a graduate of the Mechanic School of Arts at Boston. He was the captain of the cadets. Edward married his childhood sweetheart, Anne “Annie” Marshall in 1939 at her parents’ home in Red Beach. He worked as a roofer and in construction in Boston, Bangor and Connecticut. Edward also served in the Army during World War II. After retiring they moved back to his family home in Robbinston. Edward was a kind, gentle man who had a song in his heart for everyone. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He loved to sing and make music and sang with many choirs and quartets. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Socks and was elated to see them win the World Series. Last year he flew for the first time to Florida accompanied by his granddaughter, Aurelia Morrell and visited with his children for four months. Many of his children’s friends had adopted him as Dad, Pops and Papa, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Edward is survived by his two sons, Wayne L. Morrell and his fianc?e, Anne Leslie, of Robbinston, Michael Morrell of Lakeworth, Fla.; three daughters, Pamela Eilerman of Pompano Beach, Fla., Teri Hayes and her husband, William, of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Nancy McGowan of Farmington, Conn. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne in 1988; his son, Douglas, in 1970; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held in the spring.
