SOUTH THOMASTON – Edward M. McCorrison, 54, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Knox Center, Rockland, after an 18-month illness. Born April 23, 1953, in Bangor, he was the son of Frederick and Patricia Andrews McCorrison. Growing up in East Corinth he attended local schools and was a 1971 graduate of Central High School, East Corinth. After moving to this area in the early 1970s, Ed was first with Dragon Cement, Thomaston. For more than 20 years he had been head mechanic with Geo-rge C. Hall & Sons, Inc., Rockland. On Feb. 14, 1987, he married Carla J. Johnson at their home, where they have since resided. An avid NASCAR fan, annually Ed enjoyed attending the July and September races at Loudon, N.H., where one of the highlights of that time was camping with family and friends. He loved snowmobiling with his family, particularly in Aroostook County, with Presque Isle being his favorite place. Camping was also a favorite pastime for Ed, with Damariscotta Lake being the spot he most liked to be. In his younger years, Ed spent summers and had many good times at his family’s camp on Sebec Lake. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his grandparents, Ethel McCorrison, and Ivor and Phyllis Andrews; his father-in-law, Carl Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Linda Gilson. He is survived by his wife, Carla; daughter, Michelle “Mickey” McCorrison, presently a first-year student at Thomas College, both of South Thomaston; two sons, Shawn M. McCorrison and his wife, Donna, of St. George and Jarod R. McCorrison of Rockland; one brother, Val McCorrison and his wife, Chris, of East Corinth; two sisters, Marie McCorrison of East Corinth and Annette Charters and her husband, Kirk, of Stetson; one granddaughter, Kaylee McCorrison of St. George; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Weymouth Johnson of Rockland; his bro-ther-in-law, Donald and his wife, Vicki, of Oakland; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, as well as many friends. Friends and relatives are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate. Interment will be in the spring.
