BANGOR – Doris French Campbell, 96, died peacefully Feb. 10, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Jan. 7, 1912, in Levant, the daughter of Byron E. and Alice (Everett) French. Doris was a graduate of East Corinth Academy, Farm-ington Normal School and the University of Maine undergraduate and graduate programs. She enjoyed more than 30 years teaching elementary students in West Charleston, East Corinth and Bangor. Since retiring, she enjoyed friends and a very large extended family. Doris enjoyed traveling, especially to places on the ocean. Friends delighted her and she enjoyed retired teachers and church activities. Doris also enjoyed the missionary workers and hosted many of them over the years. She is survived by a son, Alan Campbell and wife, Jan-ice; a daughter, Betty Campbell and companion, Sharon Surratt; grandsons, Kenyon Camp-bell and wife, Kristen, and their children, Noah, Jacob and Emma, Mark Campbell and wife, Maria, and their children, Tiananmen and Maxmillion; daughter-in-law, Carlene Camp-bell; sisters, Marilyn French, Lois Simmons and family; sisters-in-law, Julie French and Alice French and family; brothers-in-law, Franklin Bean and Robert Greatorex; and many friends. Doris was predeceased by her son, Byron Scott Campbell; her husband, Leland Campbell; three sisters; Frances French, Clarissa Bean and Alberta Greatorex; three bro-thers, Ralph French, William French and Gerald French. A celebration of Doris’ life will be held June 21, 2008, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
