EAST ORLAND – Edward S. Tannehill, 77, passed away peacefully Aug. 27, 2007, at home, with his family and friends at his side. He was born July 10, 1930, in Muskegon, Mich., the son of James G. and Beatrice L. (Clishe) Tannehill. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969, after 20 years of service, serving in both Vietnam and Korea. Ed was a 53-year member of the IOOF Monroe Lodge No. 136. He was a member of the Riverside Chapter OES No. 123, Orland; the Rising Sun Lodge No. 71 AF & AM, Orland; Knyvetta Lodge No. 125; Rebekah’s, Searsport; the Orland Historical Society and very proud to be a Rainbow dad for Assembly No. 5, Bucksport. Along with his wife, Jane, they received the Grand Cross of Color. He was also a friend of the Orland United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jane E. (Grindle) Tannehill of East Orland; his son, James Tannehill of Bucksport; his daughter, Gloria Mason and her husband, Philip, of Berwick; two grandchildren, Iyse Maxwell and Scott Mason; great-granddaughter, Cassidy Mason; sister, Geraldine Muncy of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include, James and Jody Grindle of Penobscot, Bob and Jeanette Grindle of Penobscot, Franklin and Norma Grindle of Orland, and Alberta and Philip Whitney of Orland. He leaves very special friends, Al and Peggy Philbrook of Orland. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law, John Muncy Sr.; and nephew, David Muncy. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
