LYNDEBOROUGH, N.H. – Edward W. Allen, 66, of School Street, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at this home. He was born July 18, 1938, in Machias, the son of Sawyer Allen and Francis (Nicholis) Allen of Machias. He attended local schools and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine, Machias. He later went on to serve his country in the Air Force. He was the husband of Elaine (Tripp) Allen. Mr. Allen was also employed by the Hitchner Manufacturing Co., as a machine operator in Milford, N.H., for many years. He retired in 2003. He enjoyed playing horseshoes with the Milford Horseshoe Club in the summer and was involved with the Riley Ringers during the winter months. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Elaine (Tripp) Allen of Lyndeborough, N.H.; two brothers, Dale Allen of Lee, Paul Allen of Bucksport; two sisters, Mary Jane Hanscome of Marshfield and Linda McCarther of Alexander. There will be no calling hours. Services will be at the convenience of the family. The Nelson Funeral Home, 32 Maple St., Wilton, N.H., is in charge of the arrangements.
