DEXTER – Edward W. Carr, 79, died July 20, 2006, at his home in North Dexter. He was born July 30, 1926, in Five Islands, son of Fred and Orissa (Davis) Carr. Ed served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and received several service medals. He was a member of the VFW Post 4298 in Dexter and the Stott-Flanders Post No. 165 of the American Legion in Sangerville. For many years he worked as a woodsman in the local area. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marguerite (Elderkin) Carr of Dexter; a son, Rod Carr and his wife, Sharon, of Lincoln; two grandsons, James Carr and his wife, Mary, and Christopher Carr and his wife, Michelle and their children, Mikayla and Christa, all of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Richard Elderkin and his wife, Winnie, of Parkman. One of 13 children, Ed is survived by three brothers and a sister, Harry, Charles, Albion and Marion. Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Monday, July 24, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with graveside services 11 a.m. at the Pingree Center Cemetery in Parkman, with Kevin Stevens officiating.
