HAMPDEN – Edwin “Mac” C. McLeod, 83, died unexpectedly June 4, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Bangor, the son of John and Madeline (Bridge) McLeod. Mac served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a truck driver for Fox and Ginn for 35 years, worked for R.B. Dunning for eight years, and at the time of his death, worked for Bangor Housing Authority for more than 17 years. He was a mason and a member of Anah Shriners, Bangor; the Teamsters Union; the Odd Fellows; avid golfer at Hampden Country Club; past president and member of the Eastern Maine Seniors Golf Association; and enjoyed camping with his family. Mac is survived by his son and wife, Dwayne McLeod and Kathleen Rioux of Bangor; his daughter and husband, Darlene and Greg Kenny of Bangor; a very special friend, that was like a son, David Bowler and his wife, Carol, of Hampden; three brothers, John McLeod Jr. of Bangor, George McLeod of Eddington and Daniel McLeod of Augusta; one sister, Elizabeth Hutchins of Etna; three grandchildren, Shawna, Matthew, and Trey; and two stepgrandchildren, Samantha and Jessica Rioux. He will be always remembered as a loving father, husband, bampa and friend. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen J. (Getchell) McLeod. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. Friday until time of the service.
