OTIS – Janet G. Dow passed away May 28, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 14, 1942, to Fred and Mary Gilson in Ayer, Mass. She graduated from Spaulding Memorial High School, Townsend, Mass., and Lowell General Hospital, Lowell, Mass., in 1964, with a degree in nursing. She resided in Mason, N.H., for most of her life. She worked in the nursing field for 20 years and then changed her career to cosmetology. She operated her own shop at her home in Mason, until her retirement in 2003, when she moved to her Beech Hill Pond home in Otis. Janet was a caring, generous person and even as she lost her courageous four year battle with lung cancer, she donated her corneas. She was predeceased by her father, Fred Gilson. She is survived by her mother, Mary Gilson; her husband, Fred Dow; a brother, Stephen Gilson; a son, Bill Andrews; a daughter, Lorri; and several grandchildren. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at her home, 561 Point Road, Otis. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to come and share their special memories of time spent with Jan.
