LINCOLNVILLE – Eileen Teresa (McDonald) Heal, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Harbor Hill, Belfast. Born Sept. 13, 1926, in Wellesley, Mass., she was the daughter of William F.J. and Anne (Donnelly) McDonald. Eileen attended schools in Wellesley, Mass., and was a 1944 graduate of Roslindale High School, Boston. She earned her nursing degree from Boston Children’s Hospital Nursing School and in 1948 became a registered nurse. That same year, she came to Maine to set up a polio unit at Central Maine General Hospital, Lewiston. Her work as a nurse continued to this area, where she worked at Camden Community Hospital and various doctors’ offices. In 1952 Eileen married Vernon B. Heal. From the mid-1960s to the early-1970s, they worked together at Lincolnville Telephone Co. She later returned to nursing at Camden Nursing Home, Mountain Street, Camden and then worked as a school nurse for SAD No. 3, Thorndike. From 1977 to 1988, she taught health occupations training certified nursing assistant students at Waldo County Regional Vocational Center. Eileen had a great love for her family and enjoyed reading, doing handwork, cooking and traveling. Many fun days for children and grandchildren alike were spent at her former residence on Coleman Pond, Lincolnville. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon B. Heal Sr. in 1975; and three sisters, Mary Evangeline McDonald, Nancy Adams and Teresa Mc-Donald. Surviving is her son, Vernon B. Heal Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Lincolnville; two daughters, Elaine F. Tibbetts and her husband, Barry, of Whitefield and Karen A. Orhon of Hope; and eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Heal and Susan Heal, both of Lincolnville, Jennifer Potter, Adam Tibbetts and Joseph Tibbetts, all of Whitefield, Mary Mohammed of Augusta, Neslihan Orhon of Boston and Aylin Orhon of Hope. Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the funeral home with the Rev.
