BANGOR – Elaine F. Waggoner, passed away Feb. 14, 2005, at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1927, in Bangor, the daughter of Augustus G. and Lettie E. (Page) Parsons. Elaine was a resident of Bangor for over 45 years. She attended schools in Bangor and Ohio, returning to Maine in 1960. She was the tax collector for the City of Brewer for 25 years, retiring in 1990. Upon retirement, she worked part-time for the Bangor School Department. She was a member of the Zonta Club and of the First Christian Church in Bangor, where she was active in the choir and the church Ready Workers. She will be remembered for her love of flowers, her enjoyment of family outings, and the constant care packages that arrived in many mailboxes, filled with home-baked goodies. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Waggoner; her siblings, Janet M., Donald P., and Roger J. Parsons, and Elizabeth M. Marsh. She is survived by her children, Charles T. Waggoner and wife, Jolanda, and family; Susan E. Gray and husband, Bruce, and family; Cathrine L. Prouty and husband, “Bud”, and family; Carolyn L. Waggoner and Karan M. Waggoner, and family. She is also survived by her siblings, Augustus G. Parsons Jr. and wife, Betty, Forrest C. Parsons and wife, Geraldine, Marilyn Levering, Carolyn Fletcher, and Richard A. Parsons and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Patty Nixon and her husband, Earl; and many special nieces and nephews. Her six grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children brought much joy and love to her life. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Mark Allen Doty, pastor of the Hammond Street Congregational Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments immediately following the service at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. Graveside committal services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Joseph P. Levering Eastern Hancock H.S. Wrestling Memorial Fund, c/o Greenfield Banking Co., 1920 No. State St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
