GLENBURN – Eleanor F. Getchell, 89, died July 13, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Harrington, the daughter of Jesse and Blanche (Worcester) Coffin. Eleanor graduated from the Shaw School of Business, known today as Husson College. In her earlier years was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Bangor, where she was involved in the Women’s Society and other committees. Later in life she became active in the United Methodist Church in Orono, where she was involved in many church fairs and enjoyed helping on church suppers. Eleanor was a devoted wife to A. Stanley Getchell, who predeceased her in September of 2002. She is survived by a son, Lawrence Getchell and wife, Jackie, of Fountain Hill, Ariz.; two daughters, Brenda Boardman and husband, John, of Glenburn, Marilyn Marsh, of Bangor; seven grandchildren, Mike, Lisa, Cindy, David, Jennifer, Joel, and Laura; eight great-grandchildren, Blayne, Samantha, Nicholas, Kristin, Christopher, Tanner, Noah, and Aleah. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a sister, Marie. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the United Methodist Church, 36 Oak St., Orono, with the Rev. David L. Grainger, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the church fellowship hall after the service. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
