LAMOINE – Villa Hodgkins Smith Tweedie, 86, died Feb. 24, 2005, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., Jan. 26, 1919, the daughter of Herbert R. and Clarissa C. (Hodgkins) Smith of Lamoine and Preston, Cuba. She is survived by her husband, James Kerr Tweedie Sr.; and two children, Catherine and James. She was predeceased by one child, Thomas. She gave generously of her time to many charitable organizations. A celebration of Villa’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Lamoine Baptist Church with Dr. David Henry and Father Jonathan Appleyard, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
