BANGOR – Eleanor (Furbush) Clement, 81, wife of the late James D. Clement Jr., M.D., died March 17, 2007. She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Saugus, Mass., the daughter of Leroy C. Furbush, M.D., and Muriel (Shattuck) Furbush. Eleanor attended Saugus High School and graduated from Faulkner School of Nursing in 1948. She worked in the Boston area until 1955, when she married her husband and moved to Bangor. Summers were spent enjoying family and friends at Seal Harbor, Mount Desert Island. Eleanor also enjoyed family vacations spent traveling with her husband and children in the United States and overseas. In addition to raising her children, Eleanor was involved in various community organizations, which included the Phillips Strickland House, the Junior League, the Good Samaritan Home, the Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary, the Penobscot County Medical Auxiliary and the Shakespeare Club. She was predeceased by her husband, with whom she shared 33 years; her brother, Leroy C. Furbush Jr.; and her parents. She is survived by her cherished sister, Myrtle Mansfield of Alfred; a very special sister-in-law, Joan Furbush of Redbank, N.J.; her two children, Jay L. Clement and his wife, Cathleen, of Falmouth and Susan E. Clement of Bangor; two grandchildren, Charles Hayden Clement and Caroline McLean Clement; and very special nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial reception will be celebrated 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Brooking-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
