DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Ellen Jean (Ambrose) Scanlin, 81, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Chestatee Regional Hospital, Dahlonega, Ga., after an extended illness. Ms. Scanlin was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Brewer, and was a resident of Bangor until she married. She was the daughter of the late James and Helen Ambrose of Bangor. Ellen resided at Gold City Assisted Living, Dahlonega, Ga. She had also been a resident of Gainesville, Ga., for many years and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Gainesville, Ga., and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Dahlonega, Ga. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Denise Scanlin of Amarillo, Texas, and Thomas and Tommye Scanlin of Dahlonega, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Carol Scanlin of Gainesville, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Rich Wright of Roswell, Ga., Joan and Buddy Jordan of Canton, Ga.; grandchildren, Tricia Fran-klin of Piedmont, Ala., Catherine Scanlin of Boston, Will Scanlin of Atlanta, James Scan-lin of Gainesville, Ga., and Stephen Wright of Roswell, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Jim R. and Ginny Ambrose of Trion, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Chaplin of Whispering Pines, N.C.; sister, Lee Dougherty of Roanoke, Va. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ira W. Scanlin of Gainesville, Ga.; son, Bob Scanlin of Gainesville, Ga.; and brothers, Thomas Ambrose and Bill Ambrose. A funeral Mass will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Dahlonega, Ga. Graveside services will be after at Mount Hope Cemetery, Dahlonega, Ga. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Banister Funeral Home, Dahlonega, Ga.
