ST. FRANCIS – Eleanor S. Connors passed away at the age of 92, March 5, 2004, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 5, 1912, in St. John, the daughter of Benjamin and Lydia (Brann) Sturgeon. She attended Feller Institute in Grande Ligne, Quebec, and the Madawaska Training School in Fort Kent, Class of 1930. She taught school in St. Francis and in St. John. She married John C. Connors in 1937. Eleanor was a founder and lifetime member of the St. Francis Historical Society. She was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church. She was predeceased by her husband in 1999; two brothers, Clarence and Melvin Sturgeon; three sisters, Melissa Fitsgerald, Iona Shirley and Doris Zimmerman. She is survived by her sisters, Nora Kelly of St. Francis, and Avis Bendure of Livingston, Texas; one brother, Benton Sturgeon of Bath; and many nieces and nephews. A spring graveside service will be held 1 p.m. May 22, 2004, at the St. John Baptist Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Paul’s Congregational Church of St. Francis or to the St. Francis Historical Society. Arrangements are being conducted by the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
