BANGOR – Elena (Sheridan) Leighton, 80, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007, in Brewer, after a long illness. Lena was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Bangor and was a long-time resident of the Bangor/Brewer area. Many will remember her as the teddy bear lady for the many teddies she made for area children. Surviving are her daughter, Judy Doyle and her husband, Gary, of Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Jerry Doyle of Oklahoma and Angela Walsh of Arkansas; one brother, Charles “Lefty” Sheridan and his partner, Jean, of Florida; and a sister, Sylvia Lord and her husband, Cliff, of Florida; many nieces and nephews with Gerald Leighton and his wife, Norma, of Newport and Sharon Allen of Bangor, being most dear. She was predeceased by her mother, Doris Sheridan; her husband, Merrill “Bub” Leighton; a daughter, Sandra Holt; and a brother, Walter Sheridan. Lena requested that no services be held.
