BROWNVILLE JUNCTION Elizabeth “Betty” A. Baldyga, 92, wife of the late Leslie Baldyga, died May 26, 2008, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born July 22, 1915, in Milo, the daughter of Freeland and Loretta (Greenough) Hanson. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Milo. In 1933, she married Donald Haskel of Old Town. They had two children and lived in Old Town for many years. Betty worked at Penobscot Shoe Co., for many years and retired from Owens-Illinois, Old Town. In 1960, she married Leslie Baldyga from Connecticut. He predeceased her in 1986. After her retirement, she moved to Brownville Junction. Betty enjoyed traveling with her sisters, visiting her daughter in Colorado, and going to Las Vegas. She was also an avid reader. For the past several years she had been cared for by the wonderful staff at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Willey of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Faye Lundin of Milo; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Dr. Richard Haskell of Texas; two sisters, Madeline and Louise; and two brothers, Albert and John, all of Milo.
