ELIZABETH “BETTIANN” ANN O’CONNELL BANGOR – Elizabeth “Bettiann” Ann O’Connell, 51, passed away June 29, 2006, at a Bangor hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer; she was a great example of strength, dignity and grace. She was born Oct. 23, 1954, in Jamaica, N.Y., the daughter of John and Ann (Long) O’Connell. Bettiann’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She loved kayaking, camping and traveling. Manhattan, N.Y. was in her blood and she was a proud New York Yankees fan. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Bettiann had a positive attitude that was contagious with an amazing ability to always bring a smile to everyone’s face when she walked into a room. She was one of the most selfless people; surrounded by people from all walks of life, opening her heart and soul to anyone and everyone, who ever needed her. Bettiann has touched many lives and leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who loved her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Colleen and Jessica Tuzzolino; granddaughter, Victoria Tuzzolino, all of Bangor; two brothers, John O’Connell of Arlington, Mass. and Gerald O’Connell of Topsham; three sisters, Mary Ellen and Margaret O’Connell, both of Bangor and Joan O’Connell of Brewer; and numerous nieces and nephews; close friends, Mary Jo Freeman of Glenburn and Timothy Ford of Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to celebrate her life at a memorial reception 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Brookings-Smith, Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
