DANFORTH – Elizabeth “Betty” L. Cummings, 86 beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Sept. 25, 2005, at a Houlton hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Lowelltown, the daughter of Thomas E. and Violet (Nesbit) Curren. Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was married to Wade Cummings who died in 1995. Betty and Wade lived in Windsor, Conn., for 25 years until 1980 when Wade retired and they moved back to Danforth. She is survived by her daughter, Judith and her husband, Richard Van Rees, of Niceville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tracy, Kelly and Richard; a great-grandchild, Bailey; a sister, Dorothy Bonner of Danforth; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Wade, she was predeceased by a son, Herschel. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Rd., Danforth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Root and the Rev. Bruce McEwen officiating. Interment will be in Danforth Cemetery.
