JONESPORT – Elizabeth C. “Betty” Emerson, 87, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at an Orono health care facility. She was born in Addison, May 17, 1919, the daughter of Moses and Violet (Delot) Look. She was a graduate of Addison High School, Class of 1937. She was a life member of the Indian River Grange, Pomona, and State Grange, Addison Auxiliary, Jonesport Extension, Moosebec Senior Citizens, and the Friendly Club. For more than 20 years, she and her late husband, Joseph, operated Emerson’s Retail Grocery Store in Indian River. She was a devoted mother and the best “Nana” any grandchild could ever want, and would be blessed to have. Her enjoyments were her family and friends, her cat, Lilly, shopping and cooking. She will be most remembered for her famous graham cracker pies and chocolate sheet cake. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Corbin of Veazie and her children, Janet Smith, Sherry Dalton, and Chris Corbin; Marian Cadieu and her husband, Joseph, of Charlotte, N.C., and their sons, David and John; three sons, Millard (Millie) Emerson and companion, Linda Ward, of Addison, and his three children, Wendy Guzzetta, Tammy Schrader and Steven Emerson; Larry Emerson and his wife, Betsy, of Ellsworth and their daughters, Andrea Brockberg and Jill Emerson; David Emerson and his wife, Mona, of Addison and their son, Brandon. Her great-grandchildren are Michael, Christopher, Nicholas, Joseph, Jessica, Spencer, Molly, Erin, Hannah, Katherine, Zachary, Abby, Quinn, Ethan, Luke, Jake, Maci, and also a great-great-grandson, Landon. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Farren and husband, Everett, of Addison, and Phyllis Ingersoll of Vermont; three sisters-in-law, Mary Looke and Phyllis Look of Addison and Elizabeth H. Emerson of Jonesport; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1999; three brothers, Malcolm, Stanley, and Louis; a son-in-law, Arthur O. Corbin. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Church of Christ, Main Street, Jonesport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday July 2, at the church with High Priest Arthur Emerson and Pastor George Woodward officiating.
