BANGOR – Elizabeth “Betty” Scott, 69, died unexpectedly May 9, 2007, with her daughters by her side, in Bangor. She was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Old Town, the daughter of George and Mrytle (Walker) Dow. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Carter and her husband, Wayne; granddaughters, Amanda of Glenburn and Barbara Scott and her partner, Scott Thibodeau, of South Portland; her faithful companion, Maurice Furbush of Winterport; two sisters, Margaret Ricker of Windham, and Barbara Turner of Cary, N.C.; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Scott. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, companion, sister, and friend. She was a caring and giving person, with a big heart and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A celebration of life and remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, at the funeral home with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, Roman Catholic Chaplain of St. Joseph Hospital, officiating. Graveside services for the family will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, in memory of Edward Scott, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 200, Falmouth, ME 04105, and please celebrate Mother’s Day with your mother and loved ones.
