PORT JEFFERSON STATION, N.Y. and BANGOR – Elizabeth Bobst, 83, died peacefully July 14, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Ursula A. Pritham and her family, and in the company of her husband, Josef Bobst. Elisabethli was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Lutzelfluh, Canton Bern, Switzerland, daughter of Ernst and Lina (Rothlisberger) Enggist. Elisabethli graduated from high school in Switzerland and worked as a watchmaker. In 1953, she married Josef Bobst, with whom she immigrated to the United States in 1954 and initially settled in Flushing, Queens. Four years later they purchased their own home in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, N.Y., where they lived for 48 years. Elizabeth was a devoted wife for 53 years, a loving mother of three children and five grandchildren, and a wonderful homemaker. Her passions in life were her love for her children and grandchildren, knitting, gardening and taking walks at Cedar Beach, Mount Sinai, N.Y. Her family will fondly remember her cooking, especially her cookies, fruit pies and jam. Elizabeth worked as a custodian for 15 years at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, before retiring. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Josef Bobst of Bangor; daughter, Ursula and her husband, Robin M. Pritham, of Bangor; son, Alfred and his wife, Linda Bobst, of Newfields, N.H.; daughter, Rosemary and her husband, Robert Lorenzo, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Emma Bobst, Megan Pritham, Ryan Pritham, Olivia Lorenzo and Nicole Lorenzo. She is also survived by family in Switzerland, namely her brother, Walter Enggist of Burdgorf; and sister, Trudy Balmer of Bern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, July 21, at St. Judes Chapel, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor celebrant.
