BANGOR – Elizabeth J. Giard, 82, died Aug. 15, 2007, is now reunited with her true love and husband of more than 40 years, Hubert H. Giard, who predeceased her in 1988. She was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Penobscot, the daughter of Ralph and Alice (Cushing) Hutchins. Active in many groups, Elizabeth led a full and happy life. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish, Bangor. In addition, she was involved in many clubs and groups. Members of her Renew group were dear to her heart, as were members of her lifelong informal club, the Decade Club. Betty was a member of the retired teachers’ association and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed friends and activities at Bangor’s Senior Center. She enjoyed her family and friends and had many wonderful memories at Alamoosook Lake. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her two children, Joe Giard and wife, April, of Bangor, and Mary Giard and husband, Gary Bates, of Wayne; six grandchildren, Nicole Giard, Danielle Giard, Michael Giard, Patrick Bates, Christopher Bates, and Stephen Bates. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, presider. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the parish hall after the cemetery service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
