LUBEC – Elizabeth “Beth” T. Massicotte, 69, an independent, strong willed person, departed unexpectedly July 4, 2007. She was born July 5, 1937, at Waldo County General Hospital. Beth grew up in Hartford, Conn., and earned an undergraduate degree from Central Connecticut State College. She married in 1961 and had six children. In 1970, Beth moved to Lubec with her children and pursued a long career in education. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family and achieved a master’s degree in education in her spare time. She was a much loved, positive force to students in Cutler, Machiasport, East Machias, Whiting and Lubec. Beth spent more time listening than she did talking when people came to her with their worries; she was a loyal friend. Her home was always open and countless people benefited from her generosity. Beth was predeceased by a sister, Susan; a son, Brian; a granddaughter, Maggie; and her loving partner of 25 years, Donald M. Cook. She is survived by her sister, Sara; brother-in-law, Stamos; niece, Katina; nephew, Will Metzadakis; her daughter, Ellen Tracy and son-in-law, Bob; her daughter, Michelle Rickett and son-in-law, Arthur; her son, Fred Massicotte and daughter-in-law, Lampheung; her daughter, Betsy Massicotte; her son, Joe Massicotte and daughter-in-law, Amy; three granddaughters, three grandsons, four stepgrandkids and the Cook children, all of whom were loved without restriction. A joyous remembrance is planned for August.
