BANGOR – Ella (Berlucchi) Panish, 85, wife of the late Joseph Panish, passed away June 20, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Old Town, the daughter of Walter and Laura (St. Louis) Berlucchi. Ella was raised in Old Town, and her favorite past times were horse racing, bingo, cooking and spending time with her family. She was the former operator of the family owned businesses Royal Hotel, Bunny’s Caf? and Wally’s Spa. Ella was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 75 in Old Town. Ella had a fond place in her heart for dogs, especially Joey, who brought her much joy and happiness. She was a strong and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Ella is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Renard and her husband, John, of Old Town, Janice Steiger and her husband, Jack, of Michigan; and her son, James Earley of New York; nine granddaughters, Pam Fernandez-Marcano, Marisa Lane, Cheryl Reynolds, Laura Fahey, Lisa Duhon, Janice Martin, Dodi Austin, Debbie Anderson and Wendy Hill; 20 great-grandchildren, Mandy, Anthony, Rachel, Josh, Laura, Justin, Davon, Nicholas, Nichole, Joseph, Julian, Morgan, Dana, Jordan, Jessica, Lincoln, Jodi, Katie, Lucas and Amy; three great-great-grandchildren, Ciera, Andrew and Cassy; one brother, Joseph Berlucchi of Bangor; and special friends, Cathy White of New York, and Ellen Dunn of Old Town. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille officiating. Interment will be private at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Ella’s memory to Hospice of Eastern Maine, 885 Union St., Suite 220, Bangor, ME 04401.
