BLAINE – Ella J. Griffin, 86, went home to be with her Lord Sept. 22, 2004, at Westgate Manor in Bangor. She was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Presque Isle, the daughter of John A. and Sarah (Mullen) Grass. She was a member of the Blaine Free Baptist Church and held the seventh degree as a member in the grange. She went to her Heavenly home to be with her husband Leo, her son Russell and his daughter. She was also greeted by her parents, a brother, Reuben Grass; and a sister, Mildred Kingsbury. Remaining family members left to carry on Ella’s heritage are: two sons, John and his wife, Virginia, of Hollis, Gail and his wife, Vella Dawn, of Brewer, a daughter, Eloise of Hermon; a daughter-in-law, Beverly of Morriston, Fla.; six grandchildren, Michael and Brenda of Enfield and their children, Alex, A.J., and Liam, Troy of Morriston, Fla., Brent, Tammy and Aubrey of Ocala, Fla., Holly and Mike of Orlando, Fla., Jennifer of Blaine, Jolene and Jarica of Pittsfield; two brothers, John of Blaine and Louis of Bridgewater. She will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews as well as many friends. She will be especially missed by her roommate for the past year Charlotte Keast and the loving staff of the Baxter Unit at Westgate Manor. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. A celebration of Ella’s life will be held 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday with the Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Interment will be in the Sanborn Cemetery in Blaine. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Westgate Manor Activity Fund, 750 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401 or a charity of your choice.
