PENOBSCOT – Ella Snow Staples passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2007, at Penobscot Nursing Home. She was born July 14, 1906, in Blue Hill, the daughter of William B. and Lula (Clay) Snow. Ella enjoyed making jams and jellies as gifts for many people. She was a master in many crafts, such as needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, embroidery and hooking rugs just to name a few. She was a member of Blue Hill Baptist Church for much of her adult life and a member of Eastern Star and Rebekahs. Ella lived a full life and will be remembered for her friendliness and her great deeds. She is survived by a daughter, Ailean Conary and husband, Dana; grandchildren, Michael Conary and wife, Margo, Janet Soden Conary and Dr. Dennis Soden, Jeaney C. Patti and Joni C. Eddins; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Sister Mary Matthew Snow “Sid”, many other nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John F. Staples Jr. in 1985; sister, Ann Snow Kenney; brother, Benjamin; niece, Marie Snow McClintock; and nephew, William B. Snow. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at First Baptist Church, Blue Hill, with Pastor Stephen Heneise officiating. Interment will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill.
