LUBEC and TRESCOTT – Ellen M. O’Brien, 86, died Jan. 26, 2005, at a Lubec health care facility. She was born in Eastport, May 8, 1918, the daughter of Otis and Eva (Hall) McCaslin. Ellen was a telephone operator in Lubec for 20 years, retiring in 1961. She was then employed as a postal clerk in Lubec retiring from that position in 1980. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Lubec and attended the West Lubec Methodist Church. She was a member and past master of Lubec Grange No. 434, a member of Pomona, state and national granges; past junior deputy of the Maine State Grange; member and past matron of Quoddy Light Chapter No. 94 O.E.S. She was predeceased by her husband, Alden in 1998; brothers, George, Duke and Bud McCaslin; a sister, Stella Stence. Surviving are four brothers, Charles McCaslin and his wife, Debbie, of Lubec, Elwyn McCaslin of Portland, Sherman McCaslin and his wife, Wallie, of Cutler, John McCaslin and his wife, Barbara of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Mary Smith of Lubec; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at the West Lubec Methodist Church, with Pastor Dale Hupp officiating. Spring burial will be in Olson Cemetery.
