MADAWASKA – Elmer R. Cormier, 73, died April 3, 2004, at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Lille, the son of Jos and Leona (Cyr) Cormier. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Thomas O. Cyr Legion Post No. 147 of Madawaska. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan (Parent) Cormier of Madawaska; three daughters, Joyce Cormier of Madawaska, Karen Lewis of Caribou, Brenda Chabre and her husband, Robert, of Thompson; two sons, Ken of Auburndale, Fla., Steve of Madawaska; two sisters, Sr. Bertha Cormier of Saco and Lucille Parent of Lille; three brothers, Paul and his wife, Germaine, of Bangor, Edgar and his wife, Rita, of Rhode Island, Willard and his wife, Joella, of Southington, Conn.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the parish cemetery later in the spring.
