WEST ENFIELD and MADISON – Elva E. “Sitta” Hatch went peacefully to be with the Lord March 18, 2007, in Madison. She was born July 20, 1920, in West Enfield, to Elmer and Marjorie Rollins. Sitta was a well-known pianist in her earlier years. She loved to go to church and to visit with friends and family. Her week was not complete unless she went to church. Her best friend was Michelle, her granddaughter, and she had everyday phone conversations with her Rhode Island granddaughter, Beverlee. She loved to travel and lived for a number of years in South Carolina, moving back to Maine recently. She graduated from Howland High School and Beal Business College. Her all time favorite event was the 50-year reunion of her high school graduating class. She was married for 50 plus years to her beloved, Perley Hatch who passed in 1993. She was also predeceased by a son, Avern; and a grandson, Chris. Sitta is survived by a son, Paul Hatch and his wife, Pamela, of Skowhegan; daughters, Patricia Merrill of Bristol and Kay Greenleaf of Bangor; a sister-in-law, Jackie Hatch of Howland; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Community Evangel Temple, River Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Tim Shaw officiating. Interment will be at West Enfield Cemetery, later in the spring, at the convenience of the family.
