DOVER-FOXCROFT – Elvie C. Sargent, 93, wife of the late Clarence R. Sargent, died Aug. 4, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 19, 1915, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Ruel and Annie (Cudmore) Cunningham. Mrs. Sargent had worked in area shoe shops for many years. She was a member of Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church and Miriam Chapter No. 40, Order of the Eastern Star. She especially enjoyed camping, spending time with her family and knitting. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Leland of Dover-Foxcroft and Dolly Leland and her husband, Harvey, of Sangerville; four grandchildren, Tony and wife, Mary, Timmy and wife, Kate, Cathy and husband, Mark, and Kerri and husband, Johnny; nine great-grandchildren, T.J., Joey, Jessica, Brady, Sean, Schuyler, Spencer, Alexis and Aleshia; two great-great-grandchildren, Judah and Sage. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, in the family lot at Rural Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dodie Sheffield officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hibbard Nursing Home Activity Fund, P.O. Box 159, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426 or the charity of one’s choice.
