DEXTER – Elvin “Al” Carmichael, 80, born Aug. 28, 1927, died peacefully during the early morning of March 5, 2008, at a local hospital. Al left the legacy of a smiling face from behind the counter of Toot’s Delicatessen, Dexter, during the 60s and early 70s. Al served honorably in the U.S. Army in Germany. After his service time, Al returned to his native Washburn home. He later moved to Dexter, where he was a familiar face clerking as mentioned at Toot’s. Al loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was a licensed pilot and longtime member of the civil air patrol. He will be missed by many new friends in Monson and especially by his special friend, Marilyn Wintle, also of Dexter. Services will be held at a later date in the spring.
