OKEECHOBEE, FLA. and FRANKLIN – Emilie Ann Wilbur, 67, of Okeechobee, Fla. and Franklin, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility, after a valiant five month attempt to recuperate from a devastating illness. Born April 23, 1937, in Oakland, Mrs. Wilbur had been a resident of Okeechobee for 12 years. She grew up in Ellsworth where she graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1955. She was a licensed cosmetologist, a talented artist and author, a compassionate health care worker, but mostly she possessed a deep love and passion for animals. She provided foster care to homeless and/or injured animals, in addition to raising cairn terriers, persian cats, exotic birds and fish. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold Steven Macy and Marion Rose Parker; and son, Scott Leslie Wilbur. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Lloyd Dwight Wilbur of Eastbrook; children, Allen David Wilbur, Glenda Wilbur Leavitt and Daniel Jay Wilbur; daughters-in-law, Candyce Mae Wilbur and Kimberly Ann Wilbur; grandchildren, John Alan Hart, Misty Dawn Wilbur, Tara Mae Hart, Sarah Danielle Leavitt, Alison Michelle Leavitt, Jason Allen Wilbur, Jessica Lynn Wilbur and Jennifer Nichole Wilbur; sister, Jane Saunders; brother, H. Steven Macy; several nieces, nephews, and close friends. She will be deeply missed and loved by those whose lives were richer for having known her. Memorial services will be at a later date in Eastbrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the nearest Humane Society. All arrangements are under the direction and care of Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
