BROOKS – Emma A. Brown, wife of the late Frank W. Brown, passed away Feb. 2, 2008, at Tall Pines Rehab Center, Belfast. Born April 1, 1912, Emma “Paddy” was the daughter of the late Elbert and Edwina Patterson Ames. Paddy graduated Morse Memorial School and received her teaching degree from Farmington Normal School, in 1932. Her passion for teaching and her love for each of her students began at Morse Memorial School in 1932, until her retirement in 1977. Paddy was a longtime member of Brooks Congregational Church, Woman’s Fellowship Group and a life member of Order of the Eastern Star. She belonged to the Maine Teachers Association and National Education Association. An avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan, Paddy also enjoyed watch-ing PGA golf. She was a member of Country View Golf Club, Brooks and seldom said no to a round of golf. She especially enjoyed a round or two with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her Wednesday gatherings at the Varney for a game of bridge and socializing. She was an extraordinary woman who loved and lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all. She was predeceased by her sisters, Glena Ellis, Alberta Neely, Mona Fish and Berynes “Kippy” Shute. She leaves her son, Roger F. Brown of Naples, Fla.; her daughter, Judith Ludden and husband, Gary, of Windsor Locks, Conn.; also her pride and joy, seven grandchildren, Scott Brown and wife, Kim, of Westmoreland, N.H.., Wendy Kilty of Medway, Mass, Doreen Brown of Bozeman, Mont., Duane Ludden and wife, Linda, of New Fairfield, Conn., Kimberly Ludden of Unity, Glen Ludden of Bristol, Conn., Garrett Ludden and wife, Shelby, of Southington, Conn. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring at First Congregational Church, Brooks. Those who wish may make contributions in Emma’s name to Mount View High School, care of Lucille Curtis, 577 Mount View Road, Thorndike, ME 04986, to establish a scholarship fund or to Arthur Jewell Health Center, P.O. Box 159, Brooks, ME 04921. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
