CALAIS and CHARLESTOWN, R.I. – Emma Alberta McCoubrey, 82, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at a Westerly, R.I., nursing home. She was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Alexander, a daughter of Manley and Bertha (Fitch) Bohanon. Emma was a member of Second Baptist Church in Calais. Prior to moving to Charlestown, R.I., she resided in Meriden, Conn., for 40 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph L. McCoubrey; and a daughter, Alberta McCoubrey Hanson. Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis McCoubrey Shute and her husband, G. Wayne, of Charlestown, R.I., with whom she made her home; a son-in-law, Charles F. Hanson of Meriden Conn.; five grandchildren, Paul W. Shute and his wife, Susan, of Thonotosassa, Fla., Deborah Shute White and her husband, George, of Charlestown, R.I., Jeffrey Hanson of Meriden, Conn., Karen Hanson Rainville and her husband, Roger, of Meriden, Conn., and Susan Hanson Johnson of Meriden, Conn.; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Leila Bohanon of Calais; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, followed by a graveside service in Calais Cemetery.
